Heat Wave Update

• Now, I love living in Washington. I love the rain, the occassional snow, the wind, and the rare sunny days. I am a total jeans and capris girl and really only like to wear workout shorts...therefore the weather here suits me well. Until this random heat wave. Sure, every summer we occassionally get into the 90's for a day or two and it usually ends in rain. But this. is. different. and I detest it. I dont like sweating its icky and gross. especially when I have to work!! And no, I never wish for this hot of weather! :)

• I am reading an awesomely fascinating book : The Kennedy Women A Saga of an American Family. The history of the legendary Kennedy's and the influence of their parents and how each generation changed and grew... It gives such a deep look at life for an Irish-American Catholic at the turn of the century. Im not even half way through at 250 pages (small print) and cannot wait to continue reading!

• My First Seadoo experience...with Chelsea and Elliott. A fun afternoon spent on Lake Washington cooling off. While the experience started out rocky I now love to Seadoo and hope that maybe I will get invited to go out again!!

• Mariners, Mariners, Mariners...what ever shall I do with you?!

• Work as always is fun and exciting. I love my new home (kiosk 15, section 142). I have a great partner Bruce and I have awesome co-workers. I was chosen to work a special event - honoring Ken Griffey Jr's 600th homerun. Sounds exciting right? WRONGO. Nevermind the fact that when the event ended I had been at work for a total of 11 hours and had been sunburned selling programs...I didnt even get to see or meet KGJ. I did however, get to meet Jackie from Jackie and Bender...score. And my favorite Chuck Armstrong came by to say hello. He must have remembered me from throwing a hanger at him (Again another story for another day...) Oh and did I tell you Im totally Bff's with Jack Hannahan's Mom? Yea...cause I am.

• Read my Birthday Posts Below...had a fun night with Allie and Jen celebrating Jen's Birthday. We always have a good time, good laughs and make great memories. I love these girls and the only thing missing from our trio was our Jackie-O who couldnt make it. I will miss the girls at CWU next year like mad.

• Klah Yah Hah (or something along those lines) day in Snohomish. Mom and I love the little town of Snohomish and met up with our friends the Lunde's. Brittainy and I have known each other since elementary school, and played softball together for years. Her parents and my Mom spent a lot of time together on the bleachers over the years, and we had alot of fun catching up and hangingout! We attended little brother Jayson's baseball game where he pitched a great game (and ended up coming home as tournament MVP!). I remember Jayson as a 3 year old and also as a 6th grader when I did Teaching Academy in his classroom when I was at Inglemoor! A fun day!

• I am almost done with the Harry Potter Sevenology. I got distracted with the above mentioned book. Slowly and surely I will finish Deathly Hallows before Summer is up.

• A haircut curtousy of Brittainy Lunde! Im much shorter, cooler and thinner and my hair is easier to manage. Blunde cut about 6 inches off. We had a fun night eating chicken spaghetti I made and rummaging through our senior yearbook laughing and remembering! Thanks for the wonderful hair cut Britt!

• Brownosing goodness...Chrissy, Elena and I gathered one day to bake and bake, and bake, and bake some more treats to take to our bosses and co-workers at the beginning of last weeks homestand. Our finished products were: Reeses peanutbutter cup brownies, keylime and lemon bars, sugar cookies with "handpainted" bandwagon/lightrail busses on them, and Jam cookies shaped in baseballs. We were a success. We finished our evening by attending Mariner night at the Aquasox game with the other 12 employees who decided to show up. We fell in love with number 30....Ben. of the oppossing team....yes a fun night.

and now for a exciting weekend...A reunion with my D8 girlies Kenny G and Stacy to celebrate Stacy Graduating and a Sunday Boat Day with Jake and Quincy....Happy Weekend everyone!

Happy Birthday Jen!!!!!!!

Jen and I met at CWU's Freshman orientation. We were in the same group and then had a class together our first quarter! While we lived in different dorms Jen had friends who lived in my dorm and she practically lived in my room :) Jen and I prettymuch laugh non-stop when we are together. We love singing songs at the top of our lungs, and dancing to the Jo-Bros. Some of my most favorite memories were our lunch dates at the Gingko Tree or our legendary slumber parties! :) We celebrated Jen's Big 22 in downtown Kirkland last week. Happy Birthday Jen!!!

So This post is waaaay overdue...but I must still recognize and shoutout to my beloved Alliecakes 22nd Birthday (June 30th). Allie and I go way back to Sophomore year of highschool where we had Math and Weight Training together and later on Honors English Senior Year. We werent really friends (in fact I had accidently pantsed Allie in the PE hallway one day..but thats another story for another day) while at IHS but quickly gravitated to each other once we hit CWU. We have had many many laughs over the years and some of my most favorite college memories are with Allielove. She is truly a unique one of a kind girl who I can always trust to help me find the perfect outfit! :) I know we will remain friends forever. Happy Birthday Allie!

Circle of Life

It is hard to write this entry.

Every Christmas season growing up and still to this day Mom has always baked. We always bake sugar cookies and decorate them and of course we leave them for Santa...When I was in Kindergarten (so..about 6 years old) Mom sent Melissa and Jake to the grocery store to pick up more baking supplies on Christmas Eve. Melissa came home with an adorable little orange baby kitty. covered nontheless in fleas. I, loving Aladdin wanted to name our new kitty Jasmine. But Melissa decided on Abby and so we had an orange kitty named Abby.

Abby was the perfect Tabby. Perfect stripes, long funny tail and had the extra thumb. Abby was our adventure kitty who loved to lay between our Golden Retrievers legs and hang from his tail, hide in the bay window behind the plants and jump out at us, and would attack us as we walked down the staircases. Abby would divebomb into the blindes and cunningly figured out how to jump to open the garage door opener to get outside when locked in the garage during the day. Abby loved water and would sit on the bathtub when someone took a bath, or would chase the washcloth through the shower glass door.

Abby was thought to be a female for a good majority of his life...not until Melissa was physically shown Abby's goods many years later by a competent vet was it realized that Abby was really a male. But the name remaind and while she would call him Buddy he was always Abby to me.

Abby was adopted by no less than 3 other families during his lifetime. The most memorable was when he was renamed Moses and escaped the family to come home almost a year after he dissappeared. Then there was the time that he would come home with a coller when he hadnt left home with one and smelling like perfume of another lady and when Melissa found a Missing Cat Sign ironically in the same Albertsons where she found him....again, our Adventure kitty.

Abby loved the outdoors, loved to fight racoons, loved to bring home mice (including one memorable time where he was playing with it in the bathroom), and loved to explore even if meant getting stuck under the house. Abby loved human food. Yogurt, Pizza, Tuna, and his favorite...Turkey. If he knew you had Turkey in the fridge he would meow at the fridge door until you gave in. In the last couple years he learned to open the fridge and get in to get what he wanted. He loved Hula Skirts and Cat Nip. He had pet fish. He loved to watch the Animal Channel. He came running when you opened a can of wet cat food. He was an amazing snuggler. He had a happy Meow. And he loved his kitty life.

Abby was a unique, Darling, Hilarious, Snuggly, Fun, Sweet Cat. He lived a long, happy life. We all loved him. We all took care of him and watched him grow and laughed at his sense of humor. Because he definitely had a sense of humor. People may think Im crazy for talking about Abby like he was a human...but he was so apart of our lives..over HALF of my life. He was very much a dear member of our little family. He meant the world to Melissa. And he was the inspiration for my own orange kitty cat. I love Abby and ache that he is gone.

When the Lion King came out on VHS it was one of my favorite movies. When Rafiki holds Simba up and shows him to the animals, the song the Circle of Life is playing. Jake once held up Abby like Simba while standing on the couch. Its a fun moment we always talk about. And so, Abby has completed his Circle of Life. What an amazing life it was.

Well Hello There Blogworld!

Here's whats going on in my life since I last blogged:

• I started my 7th season and 6th year with the Mariners. (I know. Its a long time. Keep in mind I started @ age 16) There are some old and new faces and I love it. I have the quirkiest, funniest, craziest, amazingist co-workers ever. We are one big disfunctional family. I love it and it is truly never a dull moment at the ballpark. So far, I have been shuffled here there and everywhere and I love it. I get to work with new people everyday and never tire of a location. Its fabbity fab fab. The biggest excitement was getting a 100% secret shop while selling programs.

• I went to Las Vegas. Yes. The Vegas. I went to visit my Dad and Step-Mom. We had a great visit. And, I caught the gambling bug. I came home a winner in more ways than one! We enjoyed BBQ, Swimming, Gambling in the Original Gambling room in The Flamingo, I discovered that Brie is delicious on a hamburger, and had a delicious meal in the Stratosphere. It was nice to spend time with my Dad and catch up on life. I cant wait to visit again!

• Camping Linda Style. Which meant a Cabin with a bed, heater and a bathroom with a shower close by. I had no complaints. We spent the day soaking up the sun on the lake, reading books and just relaxing. Candace joined us and we had a fun night playing Apples to Apples. We were sad when we had to leave the next day to go to work.

• 2nd Annual All-Star Game Party. Where we watched the AL beat the NL for the 13th year in a row. Fabulous. I made homeade pizza and we girl chatted (no men were brave enough to join us this year and I cant say I blame them one bit!) with our Margaritas, Brownies and Ice Cream. Needless to say a workout was in order the next day.

• Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince Midnight Style: Yes. I did it. And I regret every minute. But I can say that I did it right?! I did not enjoy sitting front row. I will have to go back and see it again because really, how much can you remember after 12am and craning your neck to see everything? Not. Much.

hmm I think that summarizes everything thus far. I promise to be a better blog owner as my summer continues.
